On Jan. 23, 2015, The Times’ then-restaurant critic Jonathan Gold officially took off his mask of anonymity. “The restaurant critics’ dirty little secret,” he wrote in a front-page story for the paper, “is that restaurants have always known who we are, even before Instagram, even before our images were tweeted by the woman at the next table.” In this video, Food’s Jenn Harris talks to Gold about why he is no longer hiding his identity.
